چکیده

The extraction procedures which have been successfully employed in the preparation of a florigenic principle from the tissues of Xanthium, are applicable to the derivation of an entity of similar activity from Calonectria culture. The Xanthium principle is acedic, with pK(a) values characteristic of a carboxylic acid (6). Although definitive chemical comparisons have not been completed, the extraction and solvent partition procedures that have been applicable to the extraction of the active entity from higher plant tissues have yielded florigenic preparations from fungal culture. The chemical principle from higher plant tissue may be the same or similar to the florigenic agent of Calonectria. The many responses of higher plants to growth regulators produced by micro-organisms are well known. The presence of a flower-producing principle from Calonectria (Fusarium) rigidiuscula parallels closely the pattern exhibited by those fungal species capable of the production of auxin and gibberellins.

Fungal Community Associated with Dactylopius (Hemiptera: Coccoidea: Dactylopiidae) and Its Role in Uric Acid Metabolism

We studied fungal species associated with the carmine cochineal Dactylopius coccus and other non-domesticated Dactylopius species using culture-dependent and -independent methods. Thirty seven fungi were isolated in various culture media from insect males and females from different developmental stages and Dactylopius species. 26S rRNA genes and ITS sequences, from cultured fungal isolates reve...

Production of Fusaric Acid by Fusarium spp. in Pure Culture and in Solid Medium Co-Cultures.

The ability of fungi isolated from nails of patients suffering from onychomycosis to induce de novo production of bioactive compounds in co-culture was examined. Comparison between the metabolite profiles produced by Sarocladium strictum, by Fusarium oxysporum, and by these two species in co-culture revealed de novo induction of fusaric acid based on HRMS. Structure confirmation of this toxin, ...

Removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from aqueous media by the marine fungus NIOCC # 312: involvement of lignin-degrading enzymes and exopolysaccharides

The removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from aqueous culture medium by the lignin-degrading marine fungus NIOCC # 312, obtained from decaying seagrass from a coral reef lagoon is reported here. We estimated the percentage of phenanthrene removed from the culture supernatant and the fungal biomass after 6 days. About 60-70% of phenanthrene, at a concentration of 12 mg l (12 ppm) was remo...

Improvement of lignans production in hairy root culture of Linum mucronatum using abiotic and biotic elicitors .

Elicitors could be used as the enhancer of plant secondary-metabolite synthesis and could play an important role in biosynthetic pathways of important medicinal compounds. The present study investigated the effect of abiotic elicitor (fungal extract of Fusarium graminearum) and two abiotic elicitors (methyl jasmonate and salicylic acid) at different concentrations in 18- and 30-day-old cultures...

Florigenic and antiflorigenic signaling in plants.

The evidence that FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) protein, and its paralog TWIN SISTER OF FT, act as the long-distance floral stimulus, or at least that they are part of it in diverse plant species, has attracted much attention in recent years. Studies to understand the physiological and molecular apparatuses that integrate spatial and temporal signals to regulate developmental transitions in plants have...
